Dej Loaf really gave us the “most slept on” song of the summer. I must admit, it even took me a minute to realize the greatness of this record. When “No Fear” dropped back in June, yes June, it was not what I was expecting. I thought maybe she would come back with a more hip hop infused record, yet “No Fear” was pure “feel good” music. Yet I can truly say, in the month of September, I am OK with that. Whenever this joint comes on, nothing but positive vibes oozes through the speakers. I just want to tell Dej Loaf “Thank You” for giving us a great “feel good” song even when we did know we needed it. Look for her next project, “Liberated” where this single will live, to drop soon.
Rick Ross dropped his much anticipated 9th album this past Friday and with it came the fifth installment of his “Maybach Music” series. With “Maybach Music 5” being the latest edition, Rozay recruits Detroit’s Dej Loaf to lend her talents to the record. With the series containing such big names as Jay Z, Lil Wayne, T.I. etc., the question is can the series still maintain the level of greatness that it is known for? Well it is safe to say that this version does not disappoint.
Rick Ross is at the point in his career when most rappers tend to fall off. With 2006 being the year when his debut “Port Of Miami” heated up airwaves, making it 11 years officially in the game, it seems that father time has not caught up with Rozay as of yet. With album number nine dropping this past Friday, William Leonard Roberts II is still as nice on the mic as he ever was. Titled “Rather You Than Me“, his latest offering is a star-studded affair which is typical of a Ross project. Hip hop heavy weights such as Future, Gucci Mane, and Young Thug all show up to handle the guest spots. Even his MMG cohorts Wale and Meek make appearances.
