The Weeknd took to fellow Canadian Drake’s “OVO Sound Radio” to debut his latest track. With Abel being one of the leaders of the new R&B scene, he decided to pay homage to an R&B legend (R.Kelly) and cover his classic track “Down Low“. “Down Low” was R.Kelly at his song writing best and Abel adds enough flare to the track to update it for a newer audience. We do not know if this track will live on an official release from The Weeknd or if it is just a loosie, but no matter I am sure this rendition will make the “Pied Piper” proud.
Joe Gifted’s single “Water” is still heating up the streets, and with any hot single, the remixes start to surface. Gifted has blessed the game with an official remix featuring two other Atlanta natives, Gucci Mane and Quavo. Now on paper, this combination seems like it should work and greatly add life to an already blazing record, yet in reality, the remix actually does nothing for the longevity of the record. I am not saying that Gucci and Quavo delivered mediocre verses, it is just the single was already powerful without them. I am sure the club requests for the “Water“(remix) will be rare. But take a listen to the audio below and let me know what you think in the comments.
Sahbabii (clearly one of the top 3 worse hip hop names ever) continues the momentum of his infectious single “Pull Up Wit Ah Stick” by adding fellow Atlien Young Thug to the remix. Now at first listen, I must be honest, I was not rocking with this single. But after a few listens, I started to realize the hype that had earned the original track over 13 million listens. Whether it was the weird bird ad-libs or the song’s chorus, it was safe to say that Sahbabii had struck gold with this record. Yet having recently signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records, it seems like the label wanted to add some extra life to single. Rumors had been floating for months that Drake was lined up for the official remix, but it was eventually Young Thug who supplied the vocals.
